🍂 A Sneak Peek: The Woodland Bark Set

I’m so excited to share a glimpse of my latest design — the Woodland Bark Set!
It’s not quite ready to launch just yet, but I couldn’t resist letting you in on the story behind it.

🌳 Inspiration in the Park

One chilly autumn morning, I was wandering through the park when a patch of sunlight caught the side of an old tree. The bark was full of ridges, twists, and lines — each groove telling its own story. I found myself tracing those textures in my mind and wondering how I could capture that same feeling in yarn.

That moment turned into hours of experimenting back in the studio, pairing stitches and textures until I found the perfect combination. Tunisian crochet, with its blend of knit-like structure and woven depth, turned out to be the ideal way to echo the bark’s natural rhythm.

🧶✨From Bark to Stitches

The result is a coordinating cowl and mitts set that feels both rustic and refined. I wanted something that reflected the layered, organic beauty of tree bark — a project that looks intricate but flows easily once you start.

The stitches create gentle ridges and subtle shifts in tone — you can almost see the woodland textures emerging as you work. The pattern is worked in the round using DK yarn (about 600 m for the full set), and the rhythm of Tunisian crochet makes it wonderfully meditative.

🎁 Quick, Cosy, and Gift-Ready

Even though it looks detailed, the Woodland Bark Set works up surprisingly quickly, making it an ideal project for gift-giving season. Imagine a cowl in soft woodland tones or mitts in rich burgundy — handmade gifts that feel thoughtful but don’t take weeks to finish.

I’m will be preparing a few optional kits for those who’d like everything ready to go — yarn, pattern, and a touch of Purlwise charm in one parcel. If you’re interested, just drop me a message and I’ll pop you on the list.

🌿 Want to Learn the Stitches?

If Tunisian crochet is new to you (or it’s been a while!), my Beginner Tunisian Crochet Class in Huntingdon on 22 October is the perfect place to start. You’ll learn the basic stitches, pick up some handy tips, and leave confident enough to tackle the Woodland Bark Set when it launches.

🧶 Stay Tuned

I’ll be announcing the official launch date very soon — along with details of kits and class updates.

Until then, keep your hooks warm and your inspiration close.
Happy making,
Jacqui 🧡
