I'm very excited about this class as I've been talking about it for a while. Finally all the stars have aligned and it's going to happen!
For any that don't know steeking is a technique for adding extra stitches (steeks) and then cutting your work.... Why?!?!? I hear you cry. Well there are a number of benefits but the main one is that you can work your fairisle jumper or cardigan completely in the round and then cut it open and... well I'll explain the rest on the class :)
We are going to use the Harriet Cowl pattern for this class. It's a great first steeking project AND it means that the proceeds for the pattern are donated to the wonderful people at MRIMaakers.com who are raising money for an MRI scanner for the Shetlands. Huge thanks to them for allowing me to use this simply gorgeous pattern. Check out there website and buy yourself the hat or gloves pattern to match!
We will use Felted Tweed for this project as it has a wonderful colour range and is ‘sticky’ for a project like this.
You will need to bring: 3.25mm circular needle (80cm is ideal) or DPNs if you prefer but make sure they’ll be long enough, plenty of markers (8 pattern repeat markers and 2 steel markers is ideal).
This is a one day class and I’m running two sessions: Friday 24th January and Saturday 25th January.
The total cost of the class is £65.00 which includes 8 balls of Felted Tweed and the cowl pattern and it will start at 10am on both days and run till approximately 4pm. If you like to attend both sessions you are welcome and there’s an additional cost of just £5.
Feel free to bring lunch but there’ll be plenty of tea and coffee on the go here.
As usual if you want to book your space you can pop in, call or mail me.
Look forward to seeing you soon
